According to the teachings imparted by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, to learn from Buddha to cultivate oneself, one must practice in accordance with the Xiaman Most Excellent Oceanic Mind Essence and the Most Excellent Enlightenment State of Emptiness Oceanic Mind Essence; abstain from doing any bad deeds, do all kinds of good deeds, and benefit living beings. Only this is the proper undertaking. That is why His Holiness the Buddha did not agree that the Exam of Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform should be conducted. In order to obtain the support of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III for conducting the Exam, the Holy Gurus deliberately set up a ruse and then requested that His Holiness the Buddha be present to observe the proceedings. Consequently, when H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III did come, the situation was set up in such a way that His Holiness the Buddha could not decline to help and took action to resolve the conundrum.            The criterion a Vajra King of Great Strength must meet is to lift the Pestle onto the Platform at a weight surpassing His base standard by 30 levels. That is the highest level. That is to say, throughout history, the maximum level that any powerful Champion of Great Strength, Tremendously Great Holy Guru of Marvelous Enlightenment, or Tremendously Great Holy Guru of Equal Enlightenment had been able to attain was 30 levels above Their base standard. Astonishingly, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III lifted the 420-pound Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle with one hand and held it for over 13 seconds, surpassing His base weight standard by 56 levels. It was proven that His Holiness the Buddha is an unprecedented Vajra King of Great Strength for Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform. The Holy Gurus said that the record set by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III clearly pointed to the fact that the intrinsic quality of His Holiness the Buddha is that of a true Buddha. They also said that this record was unprecedented in history and They dared to predict that no one in the future will ever be able to break this record.          This Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle is kept at the Holy Miracles Temple in California in the United States. All are welcome to come and, with sincere respect and piety, lift the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle. Doing so will bring magnificent blessings and auspiciousness to you.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Was Compelled and Could Not Decline

Elderly Holy Guru Kaichu Jiaozun who is almost 90 years old lifted a 200-pound Vajra Pestle from the ground and held it for seven seconds before placing it onto the Platform

Three of the fingers of Kaichu Jiaozun were deformed from an old injury of broken bones. He lifted this 200-pound Vajra Pestle with this crippled hand.

February 12, 2020 (Los Angeles)

In the Great Hall of Shakyamuni Buddha at the Holy Miracles Temple, a Dharma Assembly about the true realization power of Buddha Dharma was held: The Exam of Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform. The purpose of this exam is to verify how the true realization power of Buddhist cultivators learning from Buddha to cultivate themselves changed the degree of the physical conditions of their bodies. Unexpectedly, this Exam inadvertently required the involvement of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III who was compelled and could not decline the request to resolve a difficult situation.

What is meant by Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform? Vajra pestles are commonly found in shops selling cultural relics and antiques. These pestles range from 10 to 400 jins, equivalent to approximately 11 to 440 pounds. This kind of huge pestle is from Tibet; they are called Platform Pestles. They come in different styles such as the Phurba Pestle, Five-pronged Pestle, Nine-pronged Pestle, Kalachakra Vajra Pestle, Yamataka Vajra Pestle, Guhyasamâja Vajra Pestle, and more. Some Platform Pestles were made during the Era of Sutra, Illusion and Mind at the Early Propagation Period. Some Platform Pestles of correct standard were made based on the system revamped by Guru Padmasambhava during the Later Propagation Period. People commonly regard these as art objects. Rarely do people know that the pestles were in fact used for directly testing practitioners’ realization power from practicing true or false Buddha Dharma in ancient time. Those who were tested were required to lift the vajra pestle off the ground, hold it for a required duration of time and then place the pestle onto the platform. This kind of test is called Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform.

Proven by real practice, using one hand to lift a Platform Pestle is extremely difficult. Someone who can lift 1,000 jins (approximately 1,100 pounds) with two hands cannot even lift 300 jins (approximately 330 pounds) off the ground with one hand. According to the Dharma rules, each person has a weight standard that they have to reach based on their respective age and body weight. One who reaches their standard is called a Healthy Physique Man. Exceeding the level of Healthy Physique Man is surpassing the standard. Going below the level of Healthy Physique Man is subpar. There are a total of 30 levels above, and five levels below.

Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform is the most scientific testing mechanism for verifying whether a person is of ordinary physical condition or possesses the composition of a holy person. The physical composition and condition of a holy person is completely different from that of an ordinary person. Both have the appearance of a person. However, their inner properties are completely different. Just like a pigeon and an eagle. They have the same appearance of a bird, but their inner properties and their strength are vastly different. Such differences naturally exist. A professional strong man trains himself every day, and only after 10 or up to 20 years is he able to become a strong man of exceptionally strong physique. However, his physique is strengthened due to cumulative practices. The essential quality of his physique has not changed. He is unable to transform the physique or functions of an ordinary person and cannot become liberated from the ordinary to become holy. A holy one who has learned and practiced true Buddha Dharma can surpass the physical condition and strength of a strong man of great strength by many times.

One who surpasses their weight standard by 12 to 19 levels is an elementary level Holy Guru, by 20 to 25 levels is a mid-level Holy Guru and surpassing 26 to 29 levels is a Great Holy Guru. When one surpasses the maximum level of 30, one is a Tremendously Great Holy Guru and a Vajra King of Great Strength. Normally, it is very difficult for an ordinary man of good strength to surpass two to three levels. A national level strong man can surpass up to nine levels. A world-class strong man can surpass 10 levels, but not beyond that. The holy strength generated by the body of a holy person is absolutely not something anyone with the physique of an ordinary person can hope to attain. This is especially true for lifting the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle “Onto the Golden Step,” or “Off the Holy Seat.” Lifting the weight of such a level will cause the bones, tendons, and muscles of an ordinary person to break down and their joints to break apart. One must have the physique and strength of a Tremendously Great Holy Guru in order to lift the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle. We have personally seen the strongest man in Asia Long Wu perform Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform. Although he broke his fingers and bled while doing so, he did eventually surpass 10 levels and was awarded the golden belt of Grand Master of Strength, World’s Strongest Man for Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform. That was terrific.

On February 9, there was a huge vajra pestle of 420 pounds inside the Hall of Shakyamuni Buddha at the Holy Miracles Temple. That was the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle that was placed on the Golden Step during a Dharma Assembly held two days earlier by Holy Gurus. Other than Tremendously Great Holy Gurus, no one in this world has ever been able to lift it one bit. Since the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle was already placed onto the Golden Step, the Exam of Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform could not be conducted. This was because according to the Dharma rules, when this Pestle is on the Golden Step, the Vajra Hook cannot be used to lift any pestle. Otherwise, it is against the rules. Everyone was very worried and all those who have good physical strength came forward, but no one was able to lift that Pestle off the Holy Seat with one hand. They used their utmost effort to lift this Pestle off the Golden Step, but the Pestle did not move one bit. The Dharma Assembly could not proceed. It happened that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III had accepted a respectful request to make His presence at this Dharma Assembly to observe the proceedings. Everyone then beseeched H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III to resolve this difficult situation.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said: “From the beginning, I have disagreed with your conducting this exam. After all this time, all those who were tested were but ordinary people. How many of them are elementary level Holy Gurus? They are not Holy Gurus, they could not surpass more than 10 levels! Let whoever put this pestle onto the Golden Step take it down.” The Dharma masters replied that it was placed up there by a Holy Monk. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III said: “This is absolutely a mischief. Isn’t this a deliberate intention to make things difficult? He clearly knew that you have to take the Exam today, yet He deliberately set up such a difficult barrier here! Let Him take it down!” The Dharma masters said that this Holy Monk had already left yesterday to propagate Dharma in another state. Reluctantly, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III ascended to the Dharma platform and said: “I did not come to take part in your activities here to lift the pestle, I am just helping you. I will give it a try. I don’t know yet whether I am able to help you bring the pestle down.

After saying that, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III went in front of the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle, and lifted the Vajra Pestle off the Holy Seat with one hand, the Golden Step was removed in accordance with the Dharma rules. At that time, the disciples were tremendously shocked that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, who only weighs between 100 and 200 pounds, have lifted a Vajra Pestle of 420 pounds that even the World’s Strongest Man with a body weight of more than 300 pounds could not lift, surpassing 56 levels. The holy physique and holy strength of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III stuns the world!

Although the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle was lifted off the Golden Step, there was another 280-pound exam pestle on another Golden Step on the floor. This pestle also had to be lifted off the Golden Step before the Exam could go forward. In fact, everyone knew that no one on site could lift this pestle with one hand off the Golden Step. Even the Strongest Man in Asia Lu Xiao could only lift the weight of 226 pounds at his maximum limit the prior December. Today, all the strong men on site enthusiastically came forward to lift this Vajra Pestle. Among these people were some who could lift 700-800 pounds with two hands in a normal weightlifting competition. Surprisingly, they could not lift 280 pounds with one hand today. In the end, only H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha IIIwas able to lift this pestle off the Golden Step with one hand. The Dharma Assembly of the Exam was finally able to proceed.

This unexpected incident that happened before the exam has brought a mysterious and surprisingly joyful discovery. In turns out the rejuvenation achieved by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III was not limited to the physical appearance, but also included the inner properties. The youthful qualities of His Holiness the Buddha are very many times more than that of young people.

Kaichu Jiaozun of the World Buddhism Association Headquarters, a disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, said, “I dare say for certain here, except for H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III who has such holy power, any Dharma king, great rinpoche or Dharma master in this world cannot even think about lifting the Supreme Holy Vajra Pestle one bit!” Kaichu Jiaozun has never practiced any kind of exercises or strength training to improve His physical well-being or learned any martial arts. He is simply a scholarly person who cultivates His conduct, practices meditation and Dharma. This elderly Holy Guru is only two years from 90 years old, and His body weight is less than 190 pounds. Three of His fingers are deformed due to an old injury. Yet surprisingly, He was able to use his crippled hand to lift an Elementary Level Holy Person Pestle onto the Platform according to the Dharma rules, surpassing 16 levels. It is proven that a holy person who has attained a high level of realization does possess supernormal physical condition and strength. Ten years ago, this elderly Holy Guru publicly demonstrated His inner strength from practicing Corpse Pose Tummo Concentration Dharma transmitted by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. His abdomen emits heat reaching 92 degrees Celsius and an egg that was placed on His abdomen was cooked. Surprisingly, at the age of 88 now, He was able to lift the Vajra Pestle with one hand and surpassed the strongest man in Asia Lu Xiao by 14 levels. Can this be done by a human being? It can only be said that this is a god!

People attending the Dharma Assembly unanimously recognized that Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform is the most direct testing mechanism to distinguish between true and false Buddha Dharma, or true and false holy ones. It can be clearly seen who is an ordinary person and who is a holy one simply by means of Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform. What is most incomprehensible is why the physique and strength of professional strong men, who do strength training every day, would be incomparable to that of someone who does none of that strength training but only cultivates His conduct and practices meditation?

For example, Lu Xiao represented China in the World’s Strongest Man Competition in Malaysia and won the Championship in November 2014. In 2017, he pulled a 184-ton train forward for 20 meters in a New Year’s Gala that was broadcast on TV in Liaoning. On December 27, 2019, at the age of 36 and with the body weight of 350 pounds, he lifted the Pestle onto the Platform in Shenyang, and successfully surpassed his standard by two levels. Yet an elderly Holy Buddhist Guru who is almost 90 years old, and with a body weight between 180 and 190 pounds, was able to surpass Lu Xiao by 14 levels! His Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, is even more inconceivable. Except for one with the innate quality of a Buddha, who could have achieved that? Believe it or not, the fact is right there. No tricks could be used. That was a direct lift of an actual weight. Other than marveling at and recognizing the profundity of Buddha Dharma power, what else can we say? Through this event, the fulcrum supporting all that ambiguous, mystical and empty talks throughout Buddhist history is finally broken. The truth has been revealed through the real fact!

I am very grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva!

I am Bryant Chen, a 10th grader from Maryland. On July 27, 2019, I was lucky to have an opportunity to attend the Guan Yin Bodhisattva of Great Compassion Empowerment Dharma Assembly. I would like to share my great experience from attending the assembly.

In the beginning of the assembly, I felt a little uncomfortable because of all the noises from other attendees around me. Then I remembered the words from Great Dharma Master Ruo Hui that we should not be influenced by our surroundings.  So, I tried not to listen to others. After a few minutes, all of a sudden, my mind became peaceful, and I was in a moment of silence. Then ahead of me, I saw a white road, and something in me was telling me that I should go on it.

To my surprise, just as when I came to the road, I saw my Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Standing in front of me, He was wearing a yellow robe and had a smile on His face. H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s friendly and amicable appearance gave me a feeling of happiness, peacefulness, warmth, and being welcomed. I had the feeling that Buddha Master was there waiting for me. Moments later, we had a very solemn chat.

Buddha Master said to me, “If you have any questions for me right now, let me know, and I will give you the right answers.” But it seemed H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III already knew what I was going to ask because before I asked, Buddha Master said to me, “I know about all the troubles that your family has gone through, and I will always be there to help and protect you and your family.”  Buddha Master even knew about my Mom’s recent surgery.

At last, I asked Buddha Master, “Is my family going to live a happy life with no struggles, and is everyone going to be alright?”  Buddha Master answered, “Everything is going to be alright, and I will always be there for your family and help all of you all the way through.” I was really grateful to Buddha Master and throughout our conversation, I felt like I was talking to my cheerful best friend.

Soon, the dharma assembly’s time was up. I felt tears were dropping from my face when I opened my eyes. I never knew that 45 minutes went by so fast.

I am very grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Guan Shi Yin Bodhisattva! From now on I will have peace of mind knowing that Buddha Master will be there for me and my family, and I will keep on respectfully listening to Buddha Master’s dharma discourses and practicing Buddha Master’s teachings.

Homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III—A lesson on the warning of impermanence

Homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III—A lesson on the warning of impermanence

Homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III---A lesson on the warning of impermanence

“I can’t take this pain anymore…”, cried my third sister who was painfully lying on the bed. She had a frightening and hopeless look.  She kept begging the family members to turn her body over.  Every now and then, she would ask for oral or injection painkillers to stop her pain. I can’t forget her miserable facial expression.  It has been haunting me ever since.

August 1, 2018, was one year after my third sister’s passing. According to our hometown’s custom, this day should be observed by having all family members gather and pay tribute to the deceased at the grave so to honor the memory of him or her. However, I did not attend. I still can’t let go after her death.  And even more so, I do not want to recall the time during her illness and the hard time that our whole family had been put through. I have meant to write down the happenings of my third sister so as to alert and warn others.  However, I was unable to do that even after a few tries. I can still feel the pain of my heart being torn apart until now.

My third sister was a typical village woman who was shy of sixty years old. She used to be very healthy and hardly caught a cold. She was very capable around the home. Life was good, and she always boasted, “My only son is now married, and the little grandson has started elementary school. My more than 10 acres of American ginseng plantation is expected to be ready for harvest in 2 years’ time.  That will at least yield a few hundreds of thousands of profits. I will have the opportunity to peacefully enjoy life at my old age.”

Unfortunately, no one can always get what he wants. In the year of 2016, just right after she finished the fall harvest, all of sudden my third sister felt pain around her waist.  Usually, farmers are not that delicate.  She thought she would get better after applying a few Chinese herbal plasters and resting for a few days. Unfortunately, the pain got worse.  Only after she couldn’t take it anymore, she then went to the city hospital for examination. She was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer with advanced bone metastases. It was too late to be treated by surgery. Even chemotherapy and radiotherapy would not help.  Instead, doing so will increase the suffering of the patient. There is nothing else that medical science can do.

In less than a month after the diagnosis, my third sister was paralyzed from her waist down. She would feel being bitten by thousands and millions of ants, and that caused her in extreme pain all the time. The doctor had clearly informed us that the main symptoms of lung cancer with bone metastases are the extreme pain which even painkillers can only minimally relieve the pain in the bone.”

Indeed, the high amount of oral painkillers and pethidine injections were not able to stop the excruciating pain that came deep from the bone marrow.  Every now and then she was always crying and begging, asking for help to turn her body from side to side or asking for oral painkillers and injections to stop the pain.  All of us all got worn out from taking care of her. There were four of us that took turns taking care of her throughout the day and night, trying our best to let her feel that we loved and cared about her during her last stage of life. “I can’t take the pain anymore, “she often shakily raised her scrawny hands, stared with her bulging eyes and clenched her teeth while trembling all over and crying her heart out. Even though we were trying our best to take care of her, she lost hope of surviving due to the unbearable pain.

Her condition got worse each day. The moment when she was informed about her illness, her feelings of hopelessness, helplessness and unwilling to let go rendered us helpless and not knowing what to do. She neither could ask to live nor die.  When I saw her helpless and imploring glance, I felt terrible as if I was mounted and grilled by fire or being tossed in an oil pot to be deep-fried. I even hated myself for being useless and unable to help her.

She couldn’t accept the fact that she was dying soon, and the affliction she had to face while waiting for her death horrified her.  Her personality totally changed. She would often take my hand to rub her face and stare at me sentimentally. But all I could do was to witness with my own eyes how she suffered and being tortured by cancer. Even though my heart was bleeding, I still can’t do anything. It was like a picture of a living hell. My dear sister, what can I do to help you?

We as Buddhist disciples believe in the law of cause and effect, and I understand that whatever happened to my sister was due to her karma.  The only thing we should do was to chant and pray to beseech for help and blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. I prayed so that I could take over her bad karma and transfer all my merits to her even though it would mean just a tiny bit. I tried respectfully to play the prerecorded Dharma from Namo Dorje Chang Buddha III at her bedside, hoping that the power of Buddha can reduce her suffering and help her to understand the principles of the Buddha Dharma.  I hoped she would thoroughly repent her sin and wholeheartedly chant the holy name of Bodhisattva Guan Yin so that she could leave behind suffering and attain happiness.

Since my third sister’s family does not believe in Buddhism. They only put on a perfunctory act towards me and whenever I was not with her, my brother-in-law would turn off the player which repeatedly played the chanting of the holy name of Bodhisattva Guan Yin. Facing this kind of ignorant family, I began to understand what it meant by “The Buddha does not save those who lack a karmic connection with the Dharma.”  It’s not a matter of “doesn’t want to save”; instead, it’s because “cannot be saved”.  Even Buddhas and Bodhisattvas can’t save her. I could only witness the cancer cells slowly corrode my sister’s haggard and thin body. As the vital sign of my third sister slowly declined, I have truly understood what it meant by “Death is better than living” and “Days feel like years”!

Within a short period of six months’ time, my once active and healthy sister’s life was brutally taken away by cancer. I saw how her body was being tortured until she looked like a thousand-year-old withered corpse that was just extracted from the ground. It was awfully stiff. Her half-closed eyes, bare teeth and painfully frightening look on her face showed that she died unwillingly in extreme agony.

Her death has completely awakened me like a warning.  When I think about myself and the rest of all other ignorant living beings, I feel we are all the same.  We live in a seemingly colorful, beautiful world.  It looks like we are living a happy and busy life. We often say that Buddhist practice and liberation can come after retirement or after our children have grown up.  But we never realize that life is impermanent.  There is no way one can decide on his or her own birth and death. You may die today or tomorrow. How much longer can you stay alive? The impermanence that can happen in a nanosecond can make a living person suddenly depart the world. Regardless of you being a layman, a wealthy businessman, or a king,  the ending is the same – everyone will die and leave this world empty-handed. No matter how unwilling you are to let go of your treasures in the world, you still can’t bring them along, not even a tiny bit.  At last, we will turn into a wisp of air and white ashes. This is an undeniable fact. No one can change it. Only the incredible and true Buddha Dharma can help us to reach liberation and leave the cycles of reincarnations in the six realms.

H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III teaches us if we want to leave the cycles of reincarnations and attain liberation, we must understand the sufferings connected with reincarnations.  Not only do we suffer in the impermanence but also the living beings in the six realms whom we regard as our mothers.  If one has no perspective of impermanence, he or she will not be able to attain a deep level of correct cultivation even though he or she has already become a Buddhist.

At the Dharma-Ending Age of the five evil turbidities, evil dharma and evil masters prevail.  Living beings are helpless in attaining liberation. Now the compassionate primordial Buddha, is in this world and along He brought the precious Dharma that can help us attain liberation in this life. We must not miss this auspicious opportunity that is difficult to encounter in millions of eons. We must follow the teaching of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and correspond with all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with our three karmas, action, speech, and thought.  We should diligently cultivate, vow that we will leave the cycles of reincarnation, attain liberation in this life and save all living beings in suffering in the six realms whom we regard as fathers and mothers.

Homage to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!!!

Significant Differences between my 17 Years of Actively Pursuing the Formality of Buddhism versus 6 Years of Listening to the Buddha Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

Significant Differences between my 17 Years of Actively Pursuing the Formality of Buddhism versus 6 Years of Listening to the Buddha Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

Significant Differences between my 17 Years of Actively Pursuing the Formality of Buddhism versus 6 Years of Listening to the Buddha Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III

I’m 72 years old this year and have been learning Buddhism for 23 years. On the surface, I appeared to be a ‘senior’ Buddhist disciple. As a matter of fact, I was spending those years aimlessly pursuing the formality of Buddhism and carelessly allowed time to elapse until 6 years ago when I realized what authentic Buddhism was by participating in an event of chanting sutras for the deceased.

I used to consider myself as a Buddhist practitioner who recites the holy name of Buddha. I managed to play common dharma instruments and chant the verses of praise despite the fact that I was illiterate. I became a leader of the laypeople. I did my best in making charitable contributions to Buddhist temples. I jumped on every opportunity to follow dharma teachers to participate in Buddhist affairs and help others together with a group of laypeople.  While I thought I accumulated merits from what I did, I benefitted little from my Buddhist practices.

There came a karmic affinity when I was invited to do chanting for a Buddhist brother who passed away. Buddhist brothers and sisters from various areas gathered together to do the chanting continuously day and night for the deceased. However, their chanting was quite different from mine. What was it? I wondered. Then, I witnessed an auspicious feat where relics were found after the cremation. I have helped in many chanting occasions for deceased practitioners and yet, have never seen anything like this before. After contemplating on the feat, I came to realize that the relics were manifestations of the achievements of the deceased Buddhist brother. Who was his master? I wanted to learn from him as well!

The thought stayed in my mind even after the event. I found out by asking around that the Buddhist brother listened to the prerecorded dharma discourses expounded by H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. He accumulated great merits and achieved accomplishment by practicing the dharma in accordance with the teachings. I couldn’t wait to visit a center to participate in listening respectfully to the Buddha Dharma expounded by H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The Buddha expounded the Dharma comprehensively and thoroughly, which really fascinated me. I embraced myself with the teachings of the Dharma, which quenched my thirst, satisfied my hunger, and seemingly created a sea of Buddha Dharma for me to dive in. I gained great joy from listening to the dharma. Therefore, I called and invited my younger brothers and sisters to visit the center. They listened to the Dharma expounded by H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III with my assistance. My two younger sisters, two sisters-in-law, and I all passed the exam and became Masters of Dharma-Listening Sessions. Together as a family, we learned Buddha Dharma and cultivated ourselves to benefit living beings.

The teachings from Namo H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III allowed me to understand the relation between the cause and the effect and how if there was a cause, there would be always its effect. In the past, I didn’t understand the true meaning of the Dharma and thought self-cultivation meant chanting sutras. Cultivating oneself means that practitioners take the Buddha as their role model and mind their physical, verbal and mental karma by following those of the Buddha’s to modify their own words and actions and to correct their habitual behaviors. I benefitted a lot from listening to the Buddha Dharma. I not only practiced it but also promoted it. With the collaboration among a lot of people over the years, more than twenty Buddhist centers of various sizes were established. There were more than twenty group cultivation sessions held each month. I was grateful for the empowerment from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, which caused the positive karmic affinities of the living beings to come together so the Bodhi seeds were planted and waited to blossom one day.

Life is impermanent and time awaits no one. I respectfully listen to the Buddha Dharma every day. I oblige myself in leading everyone to the Buddha Dharma listening sessions and to learn from precious books such as the ‘The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation” and ‘Learning from the Buddha” regardless of inclement weather conditions such as heavy rain or snow. It requires determination and persistence on the path of self-cultivation. There were times that some Buddhist brothers and sisters dissipated, regressed, or strayed away from following the Dharma. I would bring it to their attention and advise them on that. Together with other Buddhist brothers and sisters, we did our best in chanting sutras for the deceased whenever we got the chance to participate. We donated the proceeds from those events to releasing living beings.

I also advocated at home the practices of no-kill and releasing living beings.

There was a time that a friend bought us a box of crabs. My husband was happy and ready to indulge himself in having a meal of those crabs.  I asked him nicely to release them back to the wild when I sensed that they were about to suffer but he refused. Every living being was my family. How could I not do anything when they were about to be cooked?

My husband asked me to make dinner around dinner time. I laid in bed crying with my limbs moving randomly in the air. My husband was in shock and asked me what happened. I rolled myself around in bed even more and told him that countless crabs were asking me to save them and how they pinched me when I didn’t agree to it, which hurt very bad. I asked him to release those crabs to save me for the sake of me being his wife. He agreed reluctantly to release them after he saw how much I suffered. My “sufferings’ were instantly alleviated. It was my way of improvising a rescue plan for those crabs. It was also a result of listening respectfully to the Buddha Dharma that I started to have benevolence and compassion, refraining myself from killing lives and protecting them.

Time flies. The result over the past six years of learning Buddha Dharma and cultivating myself has surpassed that of the past sixty years of dream-like lifestyle. In comparison with the haze of confusion in the past, the goal of my cultivation has great clarity, which is to benefit living beings and end the cycle of birth and death. I’m thankful for the opportunity of learning orthodox Buddha Dharma. I’m determined to diligently cultivate myself to achieve liberation to benefit myself and others. It would be very foolish of me not to take advantage of this great opportunity to learn the Buddha Dharma and cultivate myself, wouldn’t it?

Inconceivable True Examples of Causality —killing fishes

Inconceivable True Examples of Causality —killing fishes

Inconceivable True Examples of Causality ---Killing Fishes

This true example is the personal experience of Mr. Tsai who lives in Donggang Township of Pingtung County, told by himself. He is 41 years old this year. He owns a metal processing factory and also does the business of yacht renting. His financial situation is quite good and he also has a very happy family. Because he has grown up by the sea, he is very good at swimming. In the past, he rescued quite a few people who either unintentionally fell into water or were trying to commit suicide. Therefore, he can be regarded as a warm-hearted kind person. However, he also is addicted to a hobby, which is his passion for diving and shooting fish in his spare time. He said that when shooting the fish, he mostly aimed at the fish’s belly. This is because other parts of the fish have thick and hard muscles and thus it is not easy to penetrate through the fish. The fish has a better chance to escape. If the fish is shot at the belly, its intestine would quickly burst out while the fish is struggling. In that case, it will be very easy to catch the fish. For several years, he always engaged in such activities as a favorite pastime and did not feel anything improper in doing so at all.

On the 20thday of the 12thmonth of the lunar calendar of 1981, an unfortunate incident finally occurred. On that day, his friend drove a motorcycle to take him to Wandan Town to handle some matter. At 7 pm when they were on the way of returning to Donggang, their motorcycle had a face-on collision with an oncoming truck. After falling to the ground, Mr. Tsai was run over by the truck’s rear wheel on his abdomen. Right there, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. The bloody wound was too miserable to look at. At that time, although Mr. Tsai had suffered such a severe injury, his mind was still quite clear. He saw that the miserable wound he had suffered was almost the same as the situation of the fish being shot at the belly. Then, he immediately realized how painful, tormented, sad, and angry the fish’s feeling was at the time of being shot!

Right after, his friends immediately took him to several well-known big hospitals in the city of Kaohsiung one by one. But the hospitals all declined to admit him due to the severity of his injury. Mr. Tsai could not stand their lack of morality of saving life and scolded them furiously. Later, he was brought to Surgeon Chiu’s clinic, where he was accepted after repeated earnest requests. After being treated for one week, he was still not out of the critical condition. He was then transferred to Surgeon Xiao’s clinic to take another chance. With the doctor’s meticulous treatment and care, his life was finally saved. Altogether, he had five surgeries, with three in the abdomen, one at the perineum, and one on his right thigh. The treatments had to reconnect his intestines, ureter, and the broken thigh bone. He was hospitalized for seven months before returning home to continue recuperating.

His experience of getting his life back from the near-death ordeal was regarded as a miracle by many medical professionals as well as his family members and relatives. People all believed that this probably had to do with Mr. Tsai’s good deeds of saving the lives of several people in the past. However, the unfortunate fact is that one who saves people but on the other hand, also kills fish for enjoyment still cannot escape from the due retribution. This incident is truly worthy of pondering deeply by people in the world to introspect themselves.

Inconceivable True Examples of Causality —killing ants

Inconceivable True Examples of Causality —killing ants

Inconceivable True Examples of Causality ---killing Ants

This true example from real life occurred in a mountain region not far from where I live. There is a person who used to be very disgusted by the presence of ants. Every time when he saw many ants gathering in a corner or moving on the ground, he would lit a fire to burn them all without leaving even one alive. He enjoyed doing that for several years. As a result, countless ants had been burned to death by him. An unfortunate incident eventually happened. One day, the gas pipe in his home started to leak due to long-term tear and wear and lack of repair and caused an explosion while he turned on the gas. Being scared and startled, he ran over to shut off the gas. However, the fire was very strong and the temperature was very high. He suffered serious burn injury throughout his body. Due to the serious and urgent situation, he was sent to different major hospitals for emergency treatment. The doctors said at that time, more than 40% of his skin was scorched and his life was at risk. Therefore, he must stay in a large hospital for long-term treatment. It is a known fact that the treatment of scalded or scorched injuries is the most painful and risky process, which can be called torturing of hell occurring in the human world. Even if he is lucky to get his life back in the future, the skin will still have difficult-to-remove scars and the patient will have serious sequela. Therefore, what he went through was truly a horrible experience.

While Learning from the Buddha I Found My Life Companion (Learning the Buddha Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III)

While Learning from the Buddha I Found My Life Companion

(Learning the Buddha Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III)

While Learning from the Buddha I Found My Life Companion (Learning the Buddha Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III)

During my childhood, I always heard my elder-generation relatives saying, “We had better not to marry our daughters out. Otherwise, they may have a bad fate.”

I was always puzzled by their saying so. As I grew up in life, I saw the way of life between husband and wife among my elder-generation relatives. Their life is busy at home and busy with their children every day. After getting married, the husband and wife lack common interests and their relationship gradually turns into a relation like two parallel lines within the family. All day long they turn around and are occupied by the necessities of daily life. I gradually understood why the elder relatives would say so. Upon stepping into society, I cautiously remembered the advices from my elder relatives and even feared leading such a life.

I first met my companion during a social occasion. We did not immediately establish a contact after that. Sometime later, we connected again. I was just in a period of feeling lost in my life, having worked in society for two to three years. Because of lack of care to myself, warning signs appeared in my health. Seeing my classmates at school stepping into family life, I admire them very much. However, I also recalled the words spoken by my elder relatives about caution against a bad fate through marriage. I retreated again.

One day, an elder relative told me that everything is due to causality. Our getting ill is also due to causality. My mind was shaken by the words. It seemed that I found the answers to the puzzle I had toward my own life and to the warning signs in my health. While thinking of how to solve these issues, I went to the gate of a famous temple and stayed there for about five minutes. During this brief period of time, I recalled my experience from childhood when I was led by my elder relatives to come and chant sutras. I was told that if I follow the crowd to pay homage, I will be blessed. That experience did not leave me with a good impression. I did not feel that doing so could solve my issues of causality. So, I turned around and left.

Six months later, I met my companion again. That day, he invited me to go to the Buddha hall to respectfully listen to the recorded Dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The Dharma discourse we listened to is “Do You Clearly Believe in the Law of Cause and Effect?”  What I heard was like a round of loud thunder. I finally found the answer. Everything I have today is due to the causes I planted in the past. Although I did not have a complete understanding yet, I no longer had fear and felt lost. I also gradually knew what I should do through respectfully reading “What Is Cultivation?” expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The following passages from this Dharma expounded by His Holiness the Buddha caused me to benefit deeply, “Cultivation is cultivating the increase of good karma and cultivating the avoidance of bad karma. It is increasing good karmic conditions, planting good causes, and reaping good effects. It is avoiding the increase of bad karmic conditions, not planting bad causes, and avoiding the reaping of bad effects.” “The Law of Cause and Effect does not err. It cannot be eliminated. To say that it can is to take a nihilistic point of view. Hence, we can only build a wall of good karma, which is like building a retaining wall. This wall of good karma has the effect of blocking us from our evil karma. Thus, only through learning from the Buddha, cultivating the conduct of the Buddha, and ultimately becoming a Buddha can we thoroughly liberate ourselves from the karma (cause and effect) that binds us to the cycles of reincarnations. “

In 2014 we decided to get married and have our honeymoon in the United States to attend Buddhist events. We became husband and wife under such karmic conditions. Because we are respectfully listening to the recorded Dharma discourses expounded by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III together, we have the same idea on many things and mutually have a lot of accommodations and understandings. Such an outcome completely broke the prophecy of having a bad fate from a marriage that I heard in my childhood.

I am grateful to the compassionate blessing from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. That enabled me to find my life companion. On the other hand, my companion caused me to establish my karmic connection with the true Dharma of Tathagatas.

I am grateful to H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III!

A 5-year-old boy riding in a car suffered injuries when his father hit a sign in Covina on Monday.

“We believe (the driver) fell asleep,” Covina police Lt. Trevor Gaumer said.

The solo crash happened near the corner of Second Avenue and School Street around 7:30 a.m.

Gaumer said a car southbound on Second drifted and hit the concrete base of a sign at the H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Cultural and Art Museum, 170 E. School St.

He said the driver, a 27-year-old Covina man, wasn’t injured. A helicopter transported the driver’s son to a hospital.
